The Differences Between a Skid Steer and Equipment Trailer

The first difference between a Kaufman standard trailer and a skid steer trailer is the deck height. This small lip encompasses three sides of the deck. The rear of the trailer deck does not have a lip to allow for easy loading and unloading of equipment.

The final difference between their skid steer and standard trailers is the width of the deck. Due to construction processes, a standard trailer has more actual decking. For example, Kaufman Trailer’s 16 foot, 8,000lb skid steer is 78″ width between the fender while the standard trailer version offers 82″ of deck width.

This issue gets further compounded because its subjective to the manufacturer on how to use the terms “skid steer” and “equipment trailer”.
